Foot Patrol Service Centre, Carleton University Students Association, CUSA, 2008-2011
A completely voluntary service set up to provide safe walks for students all over campus and to destinations within a 20 minute walk from campus between the hours of 6pm-12am every day. The objective was to ensure that every student got to where they had to be in a safe manner. The volunteer selection process for the program was quite strict. Successful volunteers then attended a training session with Campus Safety Officers. Over time, I racked up over 150 hours of safe walks during undergrad. I also obtained enough experience to be allowed to prep new volunteers and help with their training - including emergency radio usage and procedure for contacting emergency Ottawa services such as the police and ambulance response.
