Over time I assumed a multi-discipline role at the client-facing and customer service level of retail banking as Head Teller and Universal Banker. As the opening teller I had combinations to the treasury, books/file vault, and ATMs furnished by the branch. My main duties on the floor included setting up all teller positions/wickets for the entire branch for the business day—this included balancing and maintaining set cash limits for all denominations in Canadian currency, American dollars, Euro and British Pounds Sterling throughout the day; balancing and auditing all bank drafts (Canadian and American dollars).
Amongst my varied duties, there was a special emphasis on Universal Banker processes, namely ensuring branch-level compliance in relation to the processing of all incoming local and international wire transfers for all accepted and traded currencies from any jurisdiction not under federal, or international sanctions. I also executed front-line compliance checks on all client-requested credit card and cheque transactions; and current and new clients’ day-to-day banking requests while identifying and referring potential investment and business clients to the financial advisors, thus meeting referral and investment goals.
Our team was recognized at the corporate level and won an award at the end-of-year company gala for exceeding expectations on investment opportunities and positive customer feedback for the 2019 fiscal year.
